September First Friday: Lillian Nelson- "What Goes In..."

Our own gallery director will be having her first solo show at E3!  In this new body of work, Nelson delves into the psychology and spiritual ramifications of how our outside world affects us, and what we produce with the things we let in to our minds and souls.  Nelson creates an immersive experience with her wood sculptural paintings and installation that take the viewer on  at times an incredibly personal journey, and then address external cultural/social issues as well.

Opening reception will feature music by The Organism; 20% of sales go to Living Art of Montana.

First Friday- Bobbe Almer & Steve Woodhouse

In "Rhythms of the West", Almer and Woodhouse present the draw of nature and its rhythmic pull, but their contrast lies in their expression.  Almer plays with nature in oil pastel and watercolor, creating peaceful and immersive scenes of her Montana surroundings.  Woodhouse uses found wood objects, particularly driftwood, and reconfigures them into their own element, revealing the hidden soul underneath.

Opening reception will also feature music by Jami Kidd.  Exhibit running April 7-29, 2017.

First Friday- Michael Dinning: "The Beat of Life"

This March, E3 is proud to present Spokane artist Michael Dinning, and his current body of work in “The Beat of Life”:

“A love of history and a sense of place, the joy of family, the intrigue of music and a sense of social awareness all combine and recombine as central threads in my artwork. There is a beating rhythm in life, an unseen central beat, that compels us to return, again and again, to those people and things that compel us and bring us joy. My creative process embraces this idea, as a way to give form to the complexity that lies under a common skin, through the use of layering, lighting and physical depth in each piece. I create primarily large scale narrative sculptures and wall pieces, employing painted canvasses combined with a wide variety of found objects. Each of my pieces tells a story, or has a central theme, and this use of a variety of elements and perspectives focus the artistic expression of each piece. “

Join us for an opening reception, First Friday, March 3rd, 5-9pm. The evening will also include live music by Cheree Burton, and full reception. 20% of sales plus donations taken will go to the non-profit Team Up Montana. Exhibit runs March 3- April 1st.

Lisa Gibson & Merle Ann Loman: "Communicating Nature"

For the month of February, E3 is proud to present “Communicating Nature” with the work of Lisa Gibson and Merle Ann Loman:

Lisa Gibson is a nature enthusiast who uses her watercolor painting to highlight parallels between Nature and our human nature: “Nature is so expressive. A flower turns in the sun and appears to hum. A moose peers through the trees, echoing the hesitancy with which we at times view each other.Do we merely project our humanity onto Nature, or is Nature attempting to communicate?”

Merle Ann Loman is a Master Naturalist and photographer.  Her images are sharply focused with great detail and she creates a connection between humans and nature with her sense of artistry. Merle’s ultimate goal is to capture nature through photography without altering it, and to provide documentation that promotes the appreciation, study and understanding of natural history through all of our western Montana seasons.

Join us for an opening reception on First Friday, February 3rd, 5-9pm. Live music by Melissa Forette and refreshments will also be provided. 20% of sales go to Team Up Montana. Exhibit runs February 3-25.

Adelaide Gale Every & Elisha Harteis: "Memory Breaks Us, Memory Makes Us"

E3 Gallery is thrilled to feature the incredible talent of Missoula artists Adelaide Gale Every & Elisha Harteis:

Spawning from memories, intangible interpretations of found objects, and incorporating animal metaphors, artists Elisha Harteis and Adelaide Gale Every acknowledge memories of their past while not letting childhood sexual abuse define them. Through this body of work, the two artists acknowledge a yearning to gain strength after their experiences while adding perspectives on themes of the human condition. Between the found art light boxes of Every and figurative ceramic sculptures of Harteis, this is certain to be a cerebrally intense and memorable exhibit.

Join us for a First Friday reception January 6th, 5-9pm. Live music by Jami Kidd and refreshments also provided. 20% of all sales go to Team Up Montana.
